ANKARA: Turkish Interior Minister has said the police has detained 10 people over alleged links to terrorist group Daesh and arrested five of them, Western media reported on Friday.
Ali Yerlikaya added that the MIT intelligence agency, police, and counter-terrorism squads detained the suspects during an intelligence based operation in Izmir.
Explosive gels, weapons also recovered
The minister said the explosive gels, materials used in making explosives, weapons and ammunition hidden in the mountains were also recovered during
the operation.

Yerlikaya in a post on social media platform X, formerly twitter said 10 suspects were detained in the operation out of which five were arrested while other five were given under judicial control.
A footage shared by the minister in his post showed police cars in a mountainous area, with police carrying out a search operation inside a small cave.
It also showed security official searching a house and detaining the suspects.
Daesh has conducted numerous attacks across Turkiye, including on a nightclub in Istanbul on Jan. 1, 2017, killing 39 people. Turkish police have carried out several operations against the militants.
