ISLAMABAD: Turkish Air Force Combat Commander General Ìsmail Güneykaya met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at the Air Headquarters on Wednesday. The meeting focused on key areas of mutual interest, highlighting bilateral training, joint ventures’ progress, and potential collaborations in the aviation industry.
During the meeting, Chief of the Air Staff Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu shared the framework of PAF’s comprehensive modernization strategy, which includes integrating emerging technologies, strengthening critical infrastructure, and restructuring its training setup to address contemporary air warfare challenges.
The Air Chief emphasized the enduring religious and historic ties between the two countries, expressing commitment to enhancing military cooperation, strategic alliance, and training collaboration. He highlighted the active role of PAF pilots in providing training to Turkish aircrew and reiterated PAF’s dedication to supporting the Turkish Air Force in training and capacity-building.
Pakistan, Turkiye to Expend Military Cooperation
General Ìsmail Güneykaya commended the remarkable progress of the Pakistan Air Force in developing a robust indigenous aviation industry. He expressed keen interest in exploring avenues for training Turkish Air Force pilots in the Combat Commanders Course offered at the Air Power Centre of Excellence. Both commanders agreed to explore further cooperation through bilateral and multilateral military exercises, with a focus on technology-based future programs.
During his visit, General Ìsmail Güneykaya visited various installations and technological infrastructure at Air Headquarters in Islamabad, including PAF’s National ISR and Integrated Air Operations Centre and PAF’s Cyber Command. He also visited the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park, a significant milestone in Pakistan’s aerospace industry journey, contributing to strategic partnerships and economic growth.
The visit underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthen their strategic partnership, foster collaboration, and promote robust relations between their Air Forces.
