ANKARA: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has expressed concerns that Israel’s continued possession of nuclear arms could intensify the nuclear arms race, leading to a hostile situation, local media reported on Saturday.
“The current possession of nuclear arms by Israel, coupled with the failure to denuclearize the area, will escalate further the nuclear weapons race, leading to increase nuclearization in the region. This is not a favorable situation for both the world and the region,” Fidan said in an exclusive interview with Arab media.
He said, “Israel’s possession of nuclear arms has been a known yet unknown secret for several years — a fact that every person knows but no one has accepted.”

We see that Israel had developed its nuclear capability by not becoming a party to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and we know that it has received key support from both the United States and Europe in this connection. So, this is not a secret,” he insisted.
He emphasized the need for total denuclearization of the region or other nations to take measures to enhance their security, stressing the urgency to find a solution to the critical strategic matter.

The Minister emphasized the urgency to stop the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip and ensure prompt relief delivery. He further said Muslim nations right now are opting to resolve the Gaza issue by using all humanitarian and diplomatic tools.
