Turkish Embassy in Islamabad Commemorates 7th Anniversary of Foiled Coup

ISLAMABAD: The Turkish Embassy in Islamabad hosted the 7th Victory of Democracy event to commemorate the anniversary of the foiled terrorist attack on power in Turkey. The event was attended by Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, along with other guests.

Turkish Ambassador Dr. Mehmet Paçaci delivered a speech, welcoming all visitors and highlighting the significance of the occasion. He emphasized the importance of remembering the martyrs who sacrificed their lives during the events of July 15, seven years ago. The night of July 15 marked a critical moment in Turkey’s history, as the Turkish people demonstrated their resilience and determination to safeguard their cultural identity and the survival of the nation.

Turkish People’s Courageous Response

Ambassador Paçaci recounted the courageous response of the Turkish people who took to the streets to thwart the attempted terrorist attack on power and the subsequent assassination attempt on the President of Turkey. He emphasized that the events of July 15 shaped the future of the country and set Turkey on a path towards development.

Over the past seven years, Turkey has made significant strides in various sectors, including the economy, and is moving towards a better and more prosperous future. The ambassador highlighted the coordinated and well-thought-out nature of the July 15 plan, which ultimately failed thanks to the resilience and unity of the Turkish people.

The event aimed to remind future generations of the pivotal role that the events of July 15 played in Turkey’s development and to honor the sacrifices made by those who fought for the country’s democracy and freedom.
