Turkish and Uzbek Presidents Discuss Cooperation, Gaza Situation at ECO Summit

TASHKENT: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a significant meeting in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on the sidelines of the 16th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

During their discussions, the leaders focused on various aspects of cooperation, including regional and global issues. They also addressed the recent developments concerning Israel’s actions in Gaza and the ongoing efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the affected civilian population.

One of the key topics of their conversation was the pressing issue of Israel’s attacks on Gaza. President Erdogan stressed the urgent need for the international community to raise its voice and take effective measures to put an end to Israel’s occupation of Gaza. The humanitarian situation in Gaza has been a growing concern, and both leaders emphasized the importance of delivering aid to the affected population.

President Erdogan also expressed his satisfaction with the consistent growth in trade volume between Turkey and Uzbekistan. He highlighted the significance of further promoting industrial cooperation projects in various sectors, including energy, mining, food, textiles, and more. Strengthening economic ties and fostering collaboration in these areas will contribute to mutual prosperity and closer relations between the two nations.

As part of his participation in the ECO Summit, President Erdogan is expected to address the summit and engage in additional meetings with leaders from participating countries. The discussions are geared towards enhancing the organization’s effectiveness, as Turkey is one of its founding members. Additionally, the leaders will explore ways to improve trade, transportation networks, and connectivity among ECO member states, further solidifying regional cooperation.
