Turkish Ambassador Calls on PM Kakar, Discusses Bilateral Relations

ISLAMABAD: Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Mehmet Pacaci called on Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar in Islamabad on Thursday and discussed bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister Kakar thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish leadership for their warm messages of felicitations on his assumption of the coveted office.

He said the people of Pakistan enjoyed a cultural, historic, and fraternal relationship with Turkiye.

The prime minister said that President Erdogan enjoyed the same popularity in Pakistan as in his own country.

PM appreciates Turkiye’s reconstruction efforts following earthquake

The Prime Minister appreciated Turkiye’s reconstruction efforts following the deadly earthquake of February 2023 and reiterated Islamabad’s readiness to continue extending all possible support to the Turkish people.

On bilateral ties, Prime Minister said that the two nations could further expand cooperation in trade, energy, mining, IT, agriculture, and defence.

He said that Pakistan was keen to attract foreign investors and the Special Investment Facilitation Council had been established to create new and attractive investment opportunities in priority sectors.

The Prime Minister also lauded Turkiye for its long-standing and steadfast support to Pakistan on the Jammu and Kashmir problem.

He added that in addition to having strong and time-tested bilateral ties, Pakistan and Turkiye share convergence and cooperate closely on a wide array of regional and multilateral matters, including efforts to combat Islamophobia.
