ISTANBUL, Turkey: Turkey carried out air strikes in northern Iraq on Monday, targeting 20 sites associated with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), according to a statement from the Turkish Defence Ministry. The strikes reportedly “neutralized” many militants, a term often used by Turkey to indicate that targets have been killed.

The strikes hit several PKK bases in northern Iraq, including Asos, Gara, Hakurk, Metina, Qandil, and Zap. The targets consisted of caves, shelters, bunkers, depots, and facilities. The PKK is listed as terrorist organization by Turkey, United States and European Union.
