ROME: Tunisia and Italy have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) to cooperate on cybersecurity, Arab media reported on Friday.
The MoU between Tunisia’s National Cybersecurity Agency and the Italian National Cybersecurity Agency was signed in Tunis.
Under the MoU both the countries would establish continuous and strong cooperation in the area of cybersecurity, as well as in digital trust services.
Bruno Frattasi, general director of the Italian agency signed the agreement with his Tunisian counterpart Yacine Djemaiel during a ceremony at the Ministry of Communication Technologies in Tunis.
Tunisian Minister of Communication Technologies Nizar Ben Neji also attended the ceremony.
The aim of the MoU is to boost the exchange of experience and expertise between the two countries’ national institutions, and the development of skills in the area of cybersecurity.
Frattasi told the media that the transnational nature of cyber threats forced Italy and Tunisia to strengthen their cooperation in the important field.
He said the agreement holds strategic importance for Italy as it represents a vital step to strengthen the security of cyberspace in the Mediterranean area.
