ISLAMABAD: The banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Khawarij has initiated a violent campaign targeting government schools and teachers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, sources said on Tuesday.
On July 22, TTP Khawarij terrorists blew up a significant part of the Government Girls Model School Fazal Elahikot in Mir Ali village Zirkai, marking the start of their evil designs to disrupt educational institutions. The explosion caused substantial damage to the school buildings, symbolizing the group’s growing aggression.
In a related incident, senior teacher Meera Jan, aged 51, was martyred by TTP Khawarij terrorists in Tank. A dedicated educator with 26 years of service, Meera Jan’s assassination highlights the TTP’s ruthless targeting of those devoted to public service and education. This wave of violence underscores the activation of TTP militants under the command of Noor Wali Mehsud, aiming to establish a reign of terror across the region.
The TTP Khawarij has consistently tried to destabilize Pakistan under the guise of enforcing their distorted version of Sharia law. Their recent attacks, including the bombing of a rural health center in Kari Shamuzai area of DI Khan, further demonstrate their agenda of spreading unrest and targeting innocent civilians. These heinous acts prove that the TTP’s interpretation of Sharia law is a mere façade for their extremist activities.
The extremist ideologies shared by the Afghan Taliban and TTP, particularly their animosity towards women’s education, reveal that both groups are fundamentally aligned in their objectives. This alignment poses a significant threat to the peace and stability of the region.
Anti-peace elements in the region are also opposing Operation Azm-e-Istehkam. The responsibility for maintaining public order lies with the provincial government, making it imperative for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa administration to protect government properties, especially schools. The attack on the girls’ school in Tank District and the murder of Meera Jan are directly linked to Noor Wali Mehsud, who operates under the influence of the Afghan Taliban.
There is an urgent need to bring those responsible for these attacks to justice. The provincial government must take immediate and effective measures to ensure the safety of educational institutions and public welfare centers, safeguarding the future of Pakistan’s youth and maintaining peace in the region. The international community and local authorities must collaborate to counter these extremist threats and restore stability to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
