ISLAMABAD: United States (US) President Donald Trump has formally accepted an invitation from King Charles III to join him and Queen Camilla for an unprecedented second state visit, BBC cited Buckingham Palace as saying.
AFP reported that Trump’s second state visit to the United Kingdom will be between September 17 to 19.
Trump and his wife Melania will be welcomed by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at Windsor castle.
Trump was invited by a personal letter from Charles, which Prime Minister Keir Starmer handed to him last February during a visit to Washington.
“Tremendous honour”
The US president was received by Queen Elizabeth II during a state visit in 2019 during his first mandate.
Trump called the invitation a “tremendous honour” after Starmer presented him with the letter last February.
BBC reported that a full programme of events has not yet been announced but, like all visits of this kind, it will include a full ceremonial welcome and a state banquet in St George’s Hall in Windsor Castle.
All senior members of the Royal Family will be involved, including the Prince and Princess of Wales, who live on the grounds of the castle.
The US president is likely to be in Scotland later this month for the opening of his new golf course in Aberdeenshire.
