ISLAMABAD: US President Donald Trump has announced he is appointing Fox News anchor and former prosecutor Jeanine Pirro the interim US attorney for Washington, DC, CNN reported.
CNN cited US president’s statement as saying, “I am pleased to announce that Judge Jeanine Pirro will be appointed interim United States Attorney for the District of Columbia.”

Trump said that she excelled in all ways, praising her television career. In addition to her Legal career, Jeanine previously hosted her own Fox News Show, Justice with Judge Jeanine, for ten years, and is currently Co-Host of The Five, one of the Highest Rated Shows on Television, Trump said.
BBC reported that Trump did not indicate whether Pirro would serve permanently in the job, which requires Senate confirmation, or how long her term would last.
Pirro has been a close ally of Trump for decades.
Tax evasion
In one of his last actions during his first term, Trump issued a pardon to her husband, who had been convicted of tax evasion decades earlier.
Pirro replaces current interim US attorney Ed Martin, a former conservative podcaster that Trump appointed this January.
Pirro and Trump have had a friendly relationship for decades. One of her books, titled “Don’t Lie to Me,” was dedicated to Trump, according to CNN.
