Washington: A federal grand jury has indicted former US President Donald Trump on charges of trying to overturn 2020 election results to remain in power.
The jury indicted Trump on three charges: conspiracy to cheat the United States, obstructing official proceedings, and conspiracy against people’s rights.
the indictment stated Trump knowingly combine, conspire, confederate, and agree with co-conspirators, to injure, oppress, threaten, and intimidate one or more persons.
Despite losing the election, it said Trump tried to remain in power.

The indictment also lists six unnamed co-conspirators who assisted Trump in his attempts to overturn the election results to remain in power.
Special counsel Jack Smith soon after the development, said the US Justice Department would seek a speedy trial for Trump on charges of overturning the 2020 election.
The former president’s spokesperson, Steven Cheung, blames the current US administration for interfering with the 2024 election by targeting Trump.
Trump has also been facing charges of mishandling classified documents and plotting to stop government officials from recovering them.
However, the former US president also denies all charges related to the 2020 election. In a statement on social media in July, Trump said he was a target in the election-focused probe.
