ATLANTA: A Georgia prosecutor investigating the charges against former US president Donald Trump for allegedly conspiring to overturn the 2020 election is likely to seek an indictment from a grand jury next week, western media reported on Saturday.
Two witnesses have already confirmed to the media that they have been asked to appear before a grand jury in Atlanta on Tuesday.
Geoff Duncan, the state’s former lieutenant governor, told the media that he had been asked to appear in court on Tuesday.
Trump Election Case, Prosecutor to Seek Indictment from Grand Jury
Journalist George Chidi, another witness said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that he had also been directed to appear before the court on Tuesday.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has already indicated she would seek charges by the end of next week.
If Trump is charged in Georgia, this would be his fourth indictment in less than five months, and the second about his attempts to overturn Joe Biden’s 2020 victory.
Earlier the Washington federal court had charged him to conspire to reverse the election results.
Special Counsel Jack Smith, has also charged Trump separately in Florida with illegally keeping classified documents after leaving office and with obstructing justice work.

Manhattan prosecutors, on the other hand, indicted Trump for fabricating business records to hide money payments to a porn star.
Trump is still the main-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, despite his legal matters. He has termed all the investigations as part of a coordinated attempt by Democrats to weaken his candidacy.
Trump in a post on his Truth Social site on Saturday has termed the Georgia investigation a “witch hunt.”
