TRIPOLI: Tripoli residents are in fear as armed groups battled in different districts that continued Tuesday.
It is the worst violence reported this year amid fears that the situation is going to get worse.
The heavily armed groups namely 444 Brigade and Special Deterrence Force both backed by the interim Government of National Unity after months of ceasefire are battling it out in the streets of Tripoli.
Since the 2011 NATO-backed uprising Libya has had little peace or security followed by the split in 2014 between eastern and western factions that are at war.
According to reports truce was formed in 2020 but there has been little progress in reaching a peaceful agreement and time and again clashes occur.
Mitiga Airport is controlled by Special Deterrence Force and they captured 444 Brigade official Mahmoud Hamza and his capture resulted in two sides going to war.
