LAHORE: Until it is determined who is deserving and needy, heart surgeries, including insertion of stents, on health cards at private hospitals in Punjab have been stopped for an indefinite period, reported local media on Saturday.
It said the insurance company concerned has barred all private hospitals of Punjab from providing treatment from July 1 (today).
A notification issued by the authorities in Punjab said that heart patients will not be offered any kind of treatment on health cards at private hospitals of the province, according to the local media. The Punjab government, rather, recommended charging all heart patients 30% of the treatment cost.
Until the deserving people are identified, cardiac services on the health card at Punjab hospitals will not be offered to anyone, the authorities said.
The notification made it clear that after July 1, any private hospital that provides treatment of heart ailments will not be compensated.
