KANSAS CITY, United States: American football star Travis Kelce has compared his high-profile relationship with global pop sensation Taylor Swift to a gender-reversed version of the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman, sparking headlines and fan excitement amid fresh speculation over the couple’s future.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end made the comparison during the season finale of New Heights, the podcast he co-hosts with his brother, former NFL player Jason Kelce.
As the pair reviewed Pretty Woman — the Julia Roberts and Richard Gere classic — the discussion took a humorous turn, with Travis jokingly describing his current life as that of “an NFL stripper”.
“I think we need to make Pretty Man,” said Kelce, 35. “We need a CEO billionaire woman so high class that she doesn’t know where she’s going. She doesn’t know how to drive a car.”
Jason quipped in response, “You are Pretty Man. You’re living your own Julia Roberts story.” Travis, laughing, replied, “I’m wearing nothing but a tie when Taylor comes home.”
He added, “That’s why when I met Julia Roberts, it felt like we were the same person. She spoke to me in this movie. I’m just the NFL hooker, man.”
Kelce and Swift began dating in mid-2023 and went public with their relationship in September that year.
Since then, the couple has remained in the public eye, often appearing together at events and supporting each other’s careers.
Kelce’s father, Ed Kelce, also recently spoke to Daily Mail, describing the experience of being around Swift as “surreal”.
He praised her as “one of the most giving and caring people” he’s ever met, adding that her down-to-earth nature stood out immediately.
“I remember the first time she came to visit. She got up to get a drink and started picking up empty bottles and plates from the suite. I don’t think she got the diva memo,” he recalled. “That really said a lot to me.”
Despite their strong public presence, recent solo appearances by both Swift and Kelce have prompted fans to question whether the couple is still together.
The phrase “Are Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce still together?” began trending on social media, fuelling speculation.
However, Daily Mail reported that the couple has been navigating a personal family crisis, with Swift’s father recently undergoing major heart surgery.
Sources close to the pair said Kelce stepped into “total caregiver mode” to support Swift during the ordeal, the Daily Mail reported.
“This was their first real crisis together, and Travis did everything right,” said an insider. “If Taylor wasn’t ready to marry him before, she sure is now. Their love seems unbreakable.”
The source also revealed that Kelce has reportedly been added to the Swift family’s group chat — a gesture seen as a deepening of his bond with the singer’s inner circle.
