ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: A transgender person was shot at and injured for refusing to go with a person on a “date” in Faisal Town in Lahore, Pakistan’s second largest populous city, on Tuesday.
Person shot
According to Punjab police, an armed man wanted to take the transperson identified as “Rosy” with him to Faisal Town. The transperson was unwilling to go with him and rejected his offer.
The person in a fit of rage or the refusal whipped out his pistol and shot dead the transgender person, and a bullet hit Rosy’s abdomen, wounding her seriously.
Rosy was shifted to the local hospital for treatment.
Punjab police have registered a case and were searching for the accused who is on the run.
In Pakistan, transgender persons who have already been living on the margins of society often become prey to people’s scorn and cruelty.
