ISLAMABAD: National Agriculture Research Center, in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency, organized a 2-day seminar for the agriculture extension services’ capacity development in Balochistan to improve the province’s agriculture sector.
The event was part of a four-year project jointly executed by NARC, JICA, and the Department of Agriculture Extension Balochistan for the capacity building of the field staff to provide solutions to the issues faced by the local farming communities for increasing per-acre crop production.
Research and training are fundamental for agriculture sector
Addressing the occasion, Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali, Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, said that high-standard crops were produced in the province. The research and training were fundamental to supporting the development of the agricultural sector in Balochistan.
He said that the capacity development of agriculturists and farmers was necessary for elevating the agriculture sector in the province to increase farm income and reduce poverty.
He said that the program to facilitate growers and farmers would ultimately boost the local economy, adding that by increasing the production of fruits and vegetables in the province, the exports could also be increased.
