ISLAMABAD: The people of Balochistan have paid tribute to the Pakistan Army for the successful operation after the Jaffar Express Train attack in southwest Pakistan.
The passengers of the train shared their thoughts with the media. They expressed their gratitude for the personnel of the Pakistan Army “for the timely and successful operation” conducted to rescue them.
The driver of the train said that the timely action saved the precious lives of the passengers. He added that terrorists first carried out a blast to target the train engine, adding “After blowing up the railway track, the BLA [Balochistan Liberation Army] terrorists launched an assault.”
He said the timely action of the Pakistan Army led to the success of the operation. He said that they are thankful to the Pakistan army for saving their lives.
Talking to the media, a security guard of the train also shared his story and said that there was fear and terror in the entire train after the attack. He said that there was no harm to people due to the timely action of the FC personnel.
A train passenger said that terrorists held the passengers hostage after hijacking the train. He said that FC and Commandos put their lives at risk to rescue them.
“Army gave us hope”
He said that the courage of the Pakistan Army gave them hope and they (the Army) were the reason that “we are alive and safe”.
Earlier, Pakistan military’s media wing said in a statement on Wednesday that the security forces have successfully eliminated all 33 terrorists, including suicide bombers while rescuing the hostages in a phased manner in Operation Jaffar Express.
According to the media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Jaffar Express, traveling from Quetta to Peshawar was attacked by heavily armed terrorists near Sibi on Tuesday.
The terrorists, after blowing up the railway track, took control of the train and held the passengers hostage including women, children and elderly, using them as human shields, the statement said.
“Security forces immediately responded to the situation. Displaying unwavering courage and professional excellence, our valiant troops engaged the terrorists with precision and after a prolonged, intense and daring operation. The security forces have successfully eliminated all thirty-three terrorists including suicide bombers, while rescuing the hostages in a phased manner”, the ISPR further said.
