Tragic Helicopter Crash Claims Lives of Two Philippine Navy Pilots

MANILA, Philippine: Two Philippine Navy pilots lost their lives in a helicopter crash during a routine training flight near Manila. The Robinson R22 aircraft went down in Cavite city early in the morning, leading to a fatal outcome for the officer pilots on board.

According to a statement from the Philippine Navy, the helicopter crash occurred around 6:00 am during a training exercise. Despite efforts to rush the pilots to the hospital, they succumbed to their injuries.

Commander John Percie Alcos, spokesman for the Philippine Navy, assured a comprehensive investigation into the crash to determine its cause. “No stone will be left unturned and we try to prevent this kind of accident from happening again,” Alcos emphasized.

The crashed Robinson R22 helicopter was the sole aircraft of its type in the navy’s fleet. This incident adds to a series of tragic training accidents within the Philippine military, highlighting the risks associated with operational readiness.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the bereaved famillies. All necessary support will be extended to them,” Commander Alcos conveyed.

This recent tragedy underscores the inherent risks faced by military personnel during training exercises and emphasizes the importance of safety protocols in aviation operations.
