Chicago: Ovidio Guzman, son of a Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, facing drug trafficking charges in the US has pleaded not guilty in the case before a federal court in Chicago.

As per Western media reports on Monday, Ovidio Guzman 33, is one of El Chapo’s four sons who inherited their father’s trafficking state.  He was extradited to US authorities three days ago by Mexico.

“El Chapo” Guzman is already serving life imprisonment in a prison in Colorado.

U.S. officials claim that Ovidio Guzman’s extradition is a victory of the Biden administration against the flow of fentanyl from the southern border.

Guzman was arrested in Culiacan in 2019, however, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador released him after his support of gunmen overwhelmed security forces in the city.

Guzman arrested in January, extradited to US in February

Guzman was arrested again in January and the U.S. asked for his extradition in February.

As per reports Fentanyl a highly addictive drug is causing the deaths of 200 American deaths a day.

The Sinaloa Cartel is primarily responsible for producing fentanyl across the border, according to U.S. officials.

As per the court documents Ovidio Guzman along with his brothers operated a huge international trafficking system to transport Illicit drugs to the U.S. through airplanes, submarines, fishing boats, and rail cars.

The State Department has offered rewards of millions of dollars for information about the capture of the Guzman brothers.
