Traffic Accidents Claim 12 Lives Across Punjab

LAHORE: Recent traffic accidents in Punjab have resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.

Near the Kot Abdul Malik Interchange in Sheikhupura, a horrific accident involving a bus led to the deaths of five individuals and injured ten others when the vehicle overturned after colliding with a tree. Motorway police quickly arrived on the scene to conduct rescue operations and investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

In a separate collision on Motorway M2 near Faizpur, a bus traveling from Mansehra to Lahore lost control, resulting in three fatalities and eight injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel. All injured passengers were transported to local hospitals for urgent medical care.

Other incidents in the region included a motorcycle collision in Liaquatpur, which claimed one life, and a car-tractor accident near Jaranwala that resulted in one woman’s death and injuries to four others. Additionally, a lorry collided with a motorcycle in Bahawalnagar, leading to a young man’s death and injuries to two women. Another accident on the national highway near Mithri resulted in one fatality and injuries to three others, including two children.

These incidents underscore the urgent need for improved road safety measures and driver awareness in Punjab.
