ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Dr Arif Alvi, has said that Oman and Pakistan needed to work closely and further deepen the investment and business ties to increase the volume of bilateral trade substantially.
The President also called for enhancing the interactions and establishing close linkages among the investors and businessmen of both countries.
The President said this while talking to Al-Sheikh Dr Mohammed Omar Ahmed Al-Marhoon, outgoing Oman’s Ambassador to Pakistan, who called on him at the President House.
The President said that the volume of mutual trade between Pakistan and Oman stood at 653 million US dollars and should be further increased through collective efforts.

Ferry service to facilitate trade between Oman and Pakistan
President Alvi said that the possibility of starting a ferry service between Oman and Pakistan should be explored. He said the start of the ferry service would facilitate the export of Pakistani fishery, fresh vegetables, and other food items to the whole Middle East through Oman. He said the ferry service would improve the investment and trade between the two brotherly countries.
The President, during the meeting, also highlighted the surging trend of minorities persecution, particularly of Muslims in India, violent Islamophobic incidents, and the Indian forces’ atrocities against the innocent and poor Kashmiris in IIOJK.

President Alvi urged the international community to take notice of the rising Islamophobia and persecution of minorities in India and to use its influence for the peaceful and justice resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir Dispute in line with the resolutions of UN Security Council and the wishes of the Kashmiri citizens.
