ISLAMABAD: Substandard food is served at restaurants and tourist spots in the twin cities which leads to various ailments such as food poisoning, stomach aches, vomiting, etc.
Sajid Ali, a resident of G-,9, told APP that he visited Lake View Park with his family and said they purchased burgers and ‘channa chat’ and found food unhygienic. One Amna Ali, a G-11 resident, claimed that while visiting the Pakistan Monument, she noticed that the restaurants offered contaminated meals without receiving any inspection from the appropriate authorities. She said, “The vendors are selling food in these restaurants at higher rates, and their behaviour would be terrible.”
Amna Ali claimed that she also saw unhygienic food being sold at inflated prices compared to the market when visiting Lake View Park. She urged the concerned authorities, such as the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA), to take swift and severe action against these vendors to provide local and foreign tourists with wholesome food to enjoy their time at tourist attractions.
Dr. Ruby Rafique has advised travellers to avoid dining at these restaurants or tourist attractions in the twin towns to prevent illnesses, including food poisoning, stomach ache, vomiting, diarrhea, and other health problems. “Eating hygienic food makes your life longer, healthier, and more energetic,” she advised. —APP
