ISLAMABAD: Security was put on high alert and Section 144 was imposed in Islamabad ahead of PTI chairman Imran Khan’s appearance before the district and sessions court in Islamabad, police said on Friday. Ahead of Imran Khan’s arrival at the Islamabad judicial complex in the Toshakhana case, the entire area has been put on high security in order to maintain law and order in Islamabad. According to APP, to ensure security in the area, the police have also placed several containers around the judicial complex.
The Islamabad police spokesperson told the media that they finalized security arrangements for former prime minister Imran Khan’s appearance after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) orders. Media reports said that a meeting was also held between PTI leader Shibli Faraz and officials of Islamabad Police regarding the security arrangements. Islamabad police spokesperson said that limited persons will be permitted to enter the court premises. Police have also appointed Chief Security Officer for Imran’s security.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) district administration also changed the ‘venue of the court’ from F-8 Court Complex to Judicial Complex in Sector G-11 for PTI chief Imran Khan’s Toshakahana case. Imran Khan will appear before the court on Saturday. Islamabad Chief Commissioner shifted the courtroom from the F-8 Court Complex to Judicial Complex, using administrative and judicial powers.
According to the notification, the Toshakahana case against Imran Khan will be heard in Court Number-1, Judicial Complex-11. The notification added that the venue of the hearing of the case had been shifted for one time.
“The Chief Commissioner, as a one-time dispensation, is pleased to declare Court No.1 Ground Floor Judicial Complex, G-11/4 Islamabad, venue for hearing of case’ District Election Commissioner vs Imran Khan Niazi on 18 March 2023 instead of F-8 Court Complex Islamabad.” a notification read
Section-144 imposes in Islamabad, Rawalpindi
Islamabad Police spokesman said that section 144 has been imposed in Islamabad, and private security guards or anyone else is prohibited from carrying weapons.

Similarly, the government of Punjab also issued a notification to impose section 144 in the Rawalpindi district. The provincial government issued directives to the district administration to immediately implement section 144 due to law and order situation in the district, local media reported. The notification stated that no one will be allowed to hold public gatherings and rallies in the district.
Earlier, IHC suspended PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s non-bailable arrest warrants in the Toshakhana case till March 18. The court suspended Imran Khan’s arrest warrants and stopped Islamabad police from arresting Khan till March 18.
The court also issued directives to the sessions court and Islamabad police to provide full security to former prime minister Imran Khan.
