ISLAMABAD: In a significant move aimed at boosting educational opportunities and enhancing employability in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), top national universities under the Ministry of Federal Education on Monday announced plans to establish sub-campuses in the region.
According to a press release issued by the education ministry, these campuses are slated to be set up within existing degree colleges in GB and will focus on offering high-impact IT and other highly employable skill courses.
Furthermore, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was recently inked between the GB government and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTCC). Under this agreement, a substantial allocation of 200 million rupees has been earmarked for skill training initiatives in Gilgit Baltistan in the forthcoming months.
The pivotal decision was made during a meeting chaired by the Special Secretary of Federal Education Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani. Attended by key stakeholders including the Chief Secretary of GB, Vice Chancellor of NUTEC, Director General of NUML, Pro Vice Chancellor of GIK, Vice Chancellor of the National Skills University, and the Vice Chancellor of the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design. The gathering showcased a unified commitment to advance educational opportunities and skill development in the region.
