DUBAI: Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise landed at Abu Dhabi International Airport’s Midfield Terminal on Sunday, returning to the location where key scenes of his upcoming film “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” were filmed.
The actor’s arrival preceded the highly anticipated Middle East premiere of the movie, scheduled to take place at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental on Monday evening.
During his visit, Cruise unveiled a specially designed “Mission: Impossible” livery on an Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner, adding to the excitement surrounding the film’s release.
Elena Sorlini, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, expressed her delight at welcoming Cruise, the cast, and crew back to Abu Dhabi, emphasizing the airport’s role in the film and its contribution to establishing the city as a global talent destination. Sorlini praised the movie for showcasing the architectural grandeur, scale, and design of the iconic Midfield Terminal, which draws inspiration from the cultural elements of Abu Dhabi.
‘Mission: Impossible’ Film Shooting in Abu Dhabi
Antonoaldo Neves, Group Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Aviation Group, also expressed his pride in partnering with the “Mission: Impossible” franchise, considering it a testament to the allure of Abu Dhabi as a destination. Neves commended Abu Dhabi and his team for highlighting the unique attractions of the emirate, including the new airport and Etihad, through their involvement in the movie.
This marks the second time that a “Mission: Impossible” film has been partially shot in Abu Dhabi. In 2018, with assistance from the UAE military, Abu Dhabi Film Commission, and twofour54, an adrenaline-pumping HALO skydiving scene was captured in the emirate.
