LONDON: Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas have once again sparked romance speculation after being spotted vacationing together in Menorca, Spain, in late July.
The Hollywood stars were photographed relaxing on a boat, with de Armas in a white dress over a bikini and Cruise casually dressed, further fuelling rumours of a deepening bond following months of reported outings and joint professional projects.
The pair, currently working on the upcoming thriller Deeper, have been spotted together on several occasions in recent months, fuelling speculation that their relationship has evolved beyond the professional.
The rumours intensified in late July after the two were photographed holding hands during a stroll in Woodstock, Vermont, where de Armas owns a home.
According to TMZ, the actors were also seen attending an Oasis concert at Wembley Stadium in London the night before, followed by a visit to a national park, ice cream stop, and shopping trip.
Sources cited by People magazine claim that Cruise, 63, and de Armas, 37, have grown “incredibly close,” with one insider stating that Cruise has been a significant personal and professional support to the Ballerina star.
The source added that de Armas was eager to show Cruise around her favourite places in Vermont, describing it as her “place to rest and recharge.”
The timeline of their growing closeness includes a string of public appearances and private outings.
In February 2025, the duo were seen having dinner in London on the eve of Valentine’s Day, though at the time, a source told People the meeting was purely to discuss “potential collaborations.”
Days later, de Armas was spotted in Madrid holding hands with her then-rumoured boyfriend, Manuel Anido Cuesta, the stepson of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
By March, Cruise and de Armas were photographed at London Heliport with director Doug Liman. In April, they were seen again boarding a helicopter, dining at London’s Mexican restaurant KOL, and walking together in a park.
In early May, the two attended David Beckham’s 50th birthday party and later dined at Core in Notting Hill.
Sources, cited by Page Six, described the interaction as friendly but non-romantic, with one noting their shared interest in stunt work as a key bonding point.
“They came together and had a great night and clearly enjoy hanging out,” an eyewitness told Page Six. “But I couldn’t say any more than that… I’ve no proof it’s romantic.”
A source told Us Weekly in mid-May that Cruise was “super smitten” with de Armas and had taken her on a few low-key dates.
“It’s in the early stages, and he’s been courting her,” the insider claimed. “He’s really into her.” The source added that de Armas was interested but “being more cautious,” preferring to take things slowly.
In July, the pair were seen vacationing together in Menorca, Spain. Photographs published by Hello! magazine showed the duo relaxing on a boat, with de Armas in a white dress over a bikini and Cruise dressed casually in a blue shirt and shorts.
On 18 July, People confirmed de Armas had ended her relationship with Cuesta, although the source at the time maintained her connection with Cruise was “not romantic.”
Speaking to Good Morning America in mid-May, de Armas confirmed she was collaborating with Cruise and directors Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie on “a few projects,” expressing excitement about the work.
Another industry source noted their mutual respect for stunt work and described de Armas as “committed, inquisitive, and hardworking” on the set of Ballerina.
However, Cruise’s reported romance with de Armas has drawn scepticism from former members of the Church of Scientology, with which the actor remains publicly affiliated.
Karen de la Carriere, a former high-ranking Scientologist, told Page Six she believes the relationship may be “doomed,” similar to Cruise’s past high-profile marriages to Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes.
“Tom Cruise’s love affairs are doomed. There is a honeymoon period with a lot of generosity and dazzling moments, and then reality sets in,” said one former associate.
Carriere added that Scientology’s rigid doctrines can become a major issue in relationships: “You get to the higher, confidential levels and you find out things like you have 400,000 spirits attached to you… Who wants to be told they have to go to five sessions to exorcise those spirits?”
Despite the doubts, an Entertainment Tonight report on 2 August quoted a source who claimed the Cruise-de Armas connection has “grown stronger” over time.
“Over time, it became clear that what they have goes beyond just friendship or a working relationship,” the insider explained, adding that the two have a “flirty attraction” and mutual admiration.
