ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar met with Minister of International Department of the Communist Party of China Liu Jianchao, in Beijing on Tuesday, Pakistan Foreign Office said in a statement.
Dar appreciated China’s firm support to Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and issues of its core interest, according to the statement.
Regional peace and stability
According to a press release issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson, during the meeting, the two sides discussed regional situation following the ceasefire between Pakistan and India, and stressed adherence to the principles and purposes of the UN Charter and international law for maintaining regional peace and stability.
Appreciating China’s support to Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the deputy prime minister/foreign minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to a peaceful neighbourhood while affirming its right and capability to defend its territory and people, it added.
India’s illegal decision
Dar underlined the need for the international community to take note of India’s unilateral and illegal decision to place the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) in abeyance. He stressed that the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, remains vital for lasting peace in South Asia.
Dar appreciated IDCPC’s instrumental role in facilitating exchanges between the CPC and political parties of Pakistan.
In view of the 74th anniversary of the establishment of Pakistan-China diplomatic ties being celebrated on 21 May 2025, both sides underlined the unique nature of the Pakistan-China friendship and agreed to continue endeavouring for passing it on to the younger generation of the two countries.

Liu Jianchao reiterated that as All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partner and ironclad friend, China would continue to prioritise its relations with Pakistan.
Both leaders also agreed to deepen linkages between the political parties of Pakistan and CPC.
Earlier, Dar, arrived in Beijing on a three-day official visit from 19-21 May 2025 on Monday.
He was received at the airport by senior Chinese officials and the Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi, according to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The visit is a part of high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China, and a reaffirmation of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between the two brotherly countries.
