QUETTA: Three terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Turbat area of the Balochistan province of Pakistan on Thursday, the Pakistani military’s media affairs wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), reported.
According to ISPR, the IBO was launched to clear a terrorists’ hideout allegedly involved in firing incidents on security forces and civilians, as well as planting improvised explosive devices on the Turbat-Hoshab Road in the general area of Gishkore.
The statement released by ISPR noted that the location of the terrorists was identified through continuous intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance of the area.
Security forces were heli-inserted into the area while establishing blocking positions to cut off escape routes. However, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces during the operation. The exchange of fire resulted in the killing of three terrorists.
The military’s media wing also stated that a cache of ammunition and arms, including improvised explosive devices, were recovered from the possession of the terrorists.

Pakistan’s security forces remain determined to thwart such attempts aimed at sabotaging peace, stability, and progress in Balochistan, according to ISPR.
The incident has been met with relief from the local populace, who have been on high alert due to increasing terrorist activities in the region.
The security forces have been conducting frequent IBOs in the region to curb the rising tide of terrorism.
The latest operation in Turbat is expected to have a significant impact on the militants’ ability to carry out attacks in the area.
