PESHAWAR: At least three police personnel including an officer were martyred and one was injured during an exchange of firing with terrorists who attacked a police station in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan, local media reported on Friday.

Terrorists reportedly attacked the Sarband police station located in the suburban area of Peshawar, police said. DSP Badhbeer Sardar Hussain and his two guards were martyred in the terrorist attack, a top Police official said. CCPO Ijaz Khan told the media that following the attack, DSP Sardar Hussain rushed to the area. DSP Sardar Hussain and his two gunmen, Jehanzeb and Irshad died on the spot.
SSP operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi confirmed that police station Sarband came under attack with grenades and sniper guns fitted with night vision thermal goggles.
He said that the terrorists attacked the police stations from two to three sides. He said that six to eight terrorists were involved in the terrorist attack. He added that at least 12 to 14 police personnel were present at the police station at the time of the attack.
According to Kashif Aftab Abbasi terrorists lobbed five hand grenades into the police station. He said that four of the grenades were neutralized while one blew up.
A police spokesperson said that Police have repulsed the terrorist attack and the entire area has been cordoned off following the attack. The spokesman further said that police contingents reached in the area after the attack was reported.
