WASHINGTON: Three people were killed and two others injured in a shooting in Southeast Washington DC on Saturday night, police said in a statement.
It said that the officer responded to gunshots at around 8 p.m. (0000 GMT Sunday) in the Good Hope Road’s 1600 block, Southeast. They found 5 victims – 4 males and a woman. Two men and a woman were declared dead on the scene.
Metropolitan Police Department’s acting police chief Pamela A. Smith said the other two men were shifted to local hospitals, with their conditions unknown.
She said that let it be clear that this gun violence has to stop. It is very frustrating. We know that someone in the area knows what is happening. Please reach out and give us any information that could help to ensure that our people are safe in their communities.
She added that this is not a war zone. Police want the residents to feel safe.
Pamela said that police were investigating the circumstances of the shooting. Others may have been wounded in the shooting; they should come forward and provide the police with more information.
Another Shooting Incident in Washington
Early Saturday, two men were gunned down, and another was seriously injured in a shooting in Northwest Washington. The shooting incident occurred in the 2500 block of Ontario Road at about 1 a.m. (0500 GMT).
