TALUQAN, Afghanistan: An official confirmed on Wednesday that three workers who were trapped underground in a mine collapsed in Afghanistan’s Takhar region, have died.
According to provincial police spokesman Abdul Mobin Safi, several miners were working in a tunnel at a gold mine in the Rastaq district on Tuesday afternoon when the tunnel collapsed, killing three people.
Without sharing more details about the incident, the official said that an investigation had been initiated to determine the actual cause of the accident. —Xinhua/APP
