ATTOCK: The three-day celebration of Baba Guru Nanak’s 554th birth anniversary concluded on Friday at Gurdwara Sri Punja Sahib in Hassan Abdal.
The temple was adorned with colorful flowers, flags, banners, and posters as thousands of devotees gathered to pray in the spacious courtyard. Pilgrims purified themselves in the sacred pond early in the morning before initiating the celebrations.
Throughout the day, various gatherings took place to honor Guru Nanak’s teachings on love, peace, and brotherhood. Devotees sang songs from the Guru Granth Sahib, the sacred book of Sikhs, and recited special prayers, pledging to follow the guru’s teachings.
Gurdwara Punja Sahib in Hassanabdal was filled with Sikh and Hindu devotees marking Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary. Sikhs from around the world, particularly from neighboring India, make multiple pilgrimages to Pakistan each year, with the birth anniversary being the most significant event.
A group of Sikh pilgrims, speaking to the media at Gurdwara Punja Sahib, urged Pakistan and India to ease immigration laws and lift restrictions on senior citizens obtaining visas to facilitate such visits.
They said that increased and continued interpersonal interactions are crucial for promoting regional peace.
