LONDON: On Sunday, April 2nd, the Southall community came together to celebrate Vaisakhi, a major Sikh festival that marks the birth of the Khalsa Panth, with a colourful Nagar Kirtan procession.
Starting from the Guru Nanak Road (Havelock Road) Gurdwara and ending at the Park Avenue Gurdwara, thousands of Sikhs from all over the city took part in the procession, dressed in traditional attire and carrying religious flags.
The main roads of Southall were closed for traffic to accommodate the procession, which featured music, singing, and chanting of prayers. The atmosphere was one of joy and celebration as families and friends came together to mark the occasion.
Free food stalls were set up along the route of the procession, providing refreshments to participants and spectators alike. This gesture of hospitality is a hallmark of Sikh culture and reflects the community’s commitment to sharing their blessings with others.
