Thirteen Years of Wait: Pakistan Hockey Team in Final

ISLAMABAD: Fans across the country are exciting to watch the green shirts in the final of the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2024, almost a moment for which the green shirts waiting for 13 years.

During the last 10 to 12 years Pakistan Hockey remained under poor form and scores of issues as hockey fans were disappointed over the dismal situation of the national sport.

However, witnessing the current spark and form among the players that ked them to the final of the mega event created hopes among the nation about revival of hockey in the country.

It was the reasons, former hockey players, fans and even officials are expressing their best wishes for the team in the final.

Interior Minister and Chairman PCB, Mohsin Naqvi issued a statement while expressing his best wishes for the team to perform in the final.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also has expressed her best wishes for the national hockey team saying that “In sha Allah, Pakistan will emerge victorious in the final against Japan. The team’s performance captured the nation’s attention, and hopes are high for a triumphant outcome.”

Four Time World Champion

Being the world champion for four time (1971, 1978, 1982 and 1994), Hockey fans remained in a dismay during the last two decades as they witnessed jubilation last time when Pakistan clinched the World Cup title in 1994 by the green shirts led by the super man Shahbaz Senior.

Hockey fans are expected the national team to bring that flavor to the team again although it is the responsibility of the government to pay attention to the sport as it deserves being a national game.
