DUBAI: The third UAE ship carrying 4,630 tonnes of humanitarian aid arrived at Egypt’s El-Arish port to provide additional assistance to Palestinians in the war hit Gaza Strip on Sunday.
Emirates News Agency reported the shipment contains 4,218 tonnes of food supplies, 370 tonnes of shelter materials, and 41 tonnes of medical assistance, as well as six water tanks, one diesel storage tank and two septic tanks.
Secretary-general of the Emirates Red Crescent, Rashid Mubarak Al-Mansouri, stressed the organization’s strategic planning in cooperation with its Gaza teams would ensure that supplies are distributed to those in need as early as possible.
He went on to say the organization was tirelessly working to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with a particular focus on food security and basic supplies.
The shipment comes at a time as US charity World Central Kitchen stopped its Gaza operations after an Israeli airstrike killed seven aid workers in the besieged enclave.
According to the health ministry’s statement on Sunday, amidst ongoing Israeli violence in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian death toll has reached 33,175 people, mostly women and children.
The toll includes 38 deaths within the past 24 hours, with a staggering 75,886 persons wounded since the conflict erupted between Israel and Palestinian resistance fighters on October 7.
