RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has dispatched its third relief plane to Benghazi, Libya, as part of a humanitarian effort to assist those affected by the devastating floods caused by Mediterranean storm Daniel.

The plane is carrying 50 tons of essential aid, including food and shelter supplies, aimed at providing assistance to the flood-stricken regions in eastern Libya.

The aid delivery process will be overseen by a specialized team from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre in coordination with the Libyan Red Crescent. Their collaboration ensures the efficient distribution of aid to those most in need.

The heavy rains resulting from storm Daniel led to catastrophic flooding across eastern Libya, causing significant damage and loss of life. Notably, two dams were overwhelmed, unleashing a wall of water that inundated the city of Derna, destroying entire neighborhoods and tragically sweeping some individuals out to sea.

Saudi Arabia’s swift response reflects its commitment to humanitarian assistance during times of crisis and reinforces the importance of international collaboration in providing relief to disaster-affected regions.
