ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday vehemently condemned the campaign on social media to assassinate Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir and expressed determination to crush any conspiracy against Pakistan and state institutions.

The Prime Minister, in a press statement shared by the PM Office Media Wing, said that similar masterminds were involved in the conspiracy on May 9 (Black Day).

The Prime Minister ordered the relevant authorities to take legal action against those involved in such media campaigns at home and abroad.

“It is a clear message to the planners, brokers and handlers of May 9 that the conspiracy against Pakistan and its institutions will be crushed,” he added.

He further termed evil, evil and violent media campaigns as a result of planning by miscreants, adding that the conspirators have again become active against political and economic stability in the country.

The new media campaign was an integral part of the vile campaign launched against Shuhda, he claimed.

The prime minister noted that media scramble against the armed forces and its chief does not fall under the domain of freedom of speech but is only a conspiracy and it is a legal responsibility to eradicate such a tendency with full force.

He said the nation will thwart such attempts the way it thwarted the May 9 attempt to incite violence and vandalism in the country.

The entire nation stood behind its armed forces and its chief and resolved not to allow disillusioned and panic-stricken elements to create new crises in the country.
