KARACHI: Pakistan’s record-breaking film, The Legend of Maula Jatt’s producer Ammara Hikmat hoped that the film will reach Indian viewers but dispelled media reports regarding an agreement to release the movie in India.
She told the media that they are optimistic that fans in India will watch this movie in cinemas as well but right now, there is no such deal in place.
Having raked in 10 million US dollars globally, the movie continues to perform better globally in its seventh week of the run. The movie, which was released on October 13, made £1.39 million in the UK, making it the biggest South Asian film since Padmaavat in 2018.

The movie beat records of several popular films, including Sanju, Ponniyin Selvan, KGF 2, RRR, Race 3, Zero, and others. The movie also performed better than Bajrangi Bhaijaan at the box office in Norway.

The action movie in Punjabi is also the highest-earning Punjabi film ever, surpassing its Indian counterparts Chaar Sahibzaade and Carry on Jatta 2 ($9 million and $8.50 million, respectively).
The film stars Fawad and Mahira Khan have earned a total of Rs87.50 crore ($3.98 million) in Pakistan and Rs132.50 crore ($6 million) in foreign markets. Jawani Phir Nhi Aani 2 previously held the title of the biggest Pakistani movie. The number has already tripled due to The Legend of Maula Jatt, and it keeps rising.
It may be recalled that there has been a ban on cultural exchange between India and Pakistan since 2019.
