BANGKOK, Thailand: The Federation of Thai Industries reported on Wednesday that car production in Thailand dropped by 14.1% in November compared to the previous year, reaching 163,337 units, primarily due to decreased production of pickup trucks and the high production base from the previous year.
November saw a 9.76% year-on-year decline in domestic car sales, following October’s 8.75% drop, largely attributed to tightened bank loans for pickup trucks, as explained by Surapong Paisitpattanapong, spokesperson for the Federation of Thai Industries’ automotive industry division. Thailand serves as a key regional hub for vehicle production and exports for renowned car manufacturers such as Toyota and Honda.
