SHANGHAI: Tesla’s Shanghai factory workers have turned to social media to appeal to Elon Musk after they were told that their performance bonuses would be cut.
Posts from workers began appearing on online forums such as Baidu Tieba, Twitter, also owned by Musk but blocked in China, to tweet to Musk, his mother, Maye Musk, and Tesla’s high-ups seeking to intervene and pay attention to the performance bonuses of workers at Tesla’s Shanghai factory which was being arbitrarily deducted.
Two workers told Reuters their supervisors informed them over the weekend about a cut to their quarterly bonus payout, which was linked to the factory’s total performance.
They said Tesla supervisors told them about a “safety incident” when asked about reasons for the bonus slash. Several online posts said workers at the Shanghai plant were being unfairly penalized for an incident earlier this year at a factory where one worker allegedly died.
