TEXAS: Tesla’s S and X model were not available for purchase in various Asia-Pacific nations, including Australia, Thailand, Singapore, and New Zealand, according to the automaker’s website.
On the website, it was said that these countries have bee offered other Tesla Inc models such the Model 3 and Model Y.
The reason why these models weren’t available in these countries was not immediately clear. A request by Reuters for comment from Tesla was not immediately complied with.
In the January–March quarter, Elon Musk’s electric car manufacturer reported record deliveries, while sales of the more expensive Model X and Model S models fell by 38%.
As competition among manufacturers of electric vehicles heats up internationally this year, Tesla has aggressively lowered prices for several of its models in various areas to boost demand.
Investors have been keeping an eye on Musk’s bet that lowering costs will increase sales, but they are concerned about declining margins.
