ISLAMABAD: Abdul Manan, also known as Hakimullah, a prominent commander within the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), was killed in Chaghasarai, District Asadabad, Kunar, Afghanistan on June 16. Hakimullah was a key member of the TTP Malakand faction and involved in numerous terrorist activities, including targeted killings and the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
His elimination marks a critical stride in Pakistan’s ongoing battle against terrorism. It underscores the steadfast commitment of the state and its people to combat extremist threats comprehensively. This operation not only deals a blow to the TTP’s operational capacity but also underscores Pakistan’s resolute stance against terrorism. The country’s Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) have been crucial in targeting militants in Balochistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa regions.
Pakistan’s recent efforts have also seen precision airstrikes within Afghanistan, targeting TTP hideouts and training camps. These operations, conducted with precision-guided munitions by the Pakistan Air Force, signify a strategic shift towards preemptively neutralizing imminent threats originating across the border. Several TTP leaders, including operational commanders, were reportedly among the casualties, aiming to disrupt the group’s activities and curb cross-border terrorism that has long plagued the region.
Recent revelations of TTP operatives checking Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) along highways in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa highlight ongoing security challenges. Despite such incidents, law enforcement agencies in Balochistan and KPK have intensified intelligence-based operations, resulting in the apprehension of several TTP affiliates. These efforts have thwarted the establishment of new TTP centers and revealed the group’s extensive domestic and international connections.
The successful intelligence operations are expected to uncover further collusion among various terrorist factions within Pakistan, reinforcing the necessity for continued vigilance and proactive measures against extremist threats.
