Tens of Thousands Rally in Israel Against Netanyahu Government

ISLAMABAD/ JERUSALEM: Tens of thousands of Israeli citizens did rally to protest in three cities against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu new government’s judicial reform plans with the organisers accusing his cabinet of undermining the democratic rule weeks after his reelection.

According to the TRT World, After President Isaac Herzog appealed to the polarised politicians to “lower the temperatures” of the discussions, organisers of the demonstrations held under chilly winter rain sought to strike a note of national unity in Israel of just over 9 million.

Rally to protect Israeli democracy

Centrist ex-defense minister Benny Gantz said that take the Israeli flag in the hand, an umbrella in the other, and came out to protect Israeli democracy and law in the State of Israel; they attended the Tel Aviv rally but, like other opposition data, was not due to address it.

According to the AFP, Protesters have braved rain for the rally, brandishing signs with slogans decrying the “government of shame” or urging: to bring down the dictator.

“Netanyahu has not wanted a democracy; we have not to need fascists in the Knesset,” read one sign at the Tel Aviv protest, referring to parliament.

Israeli news media put attendance at some 80,000 in Tel Aviv, with hundreds more at protests in Haifa and Jerusalem.

Social media images showed the number of Palestinian flags in defiance of Netanyahu’s far-right allies.

National Security Ministry, Itamar Ben-Gvir, said on Kan TVhe wanted such flags removed but awaiting the attorney-general’s opinion before ordering any crackdown by the Israeli police.
