According to AFP, around 30 people sustained injuries as 400 people were present in the casino. Video footage said that people jumped from the burning building, and video footage showed a massive complex ablaze.
As per the local media reports, foreign nationals were inside the casino at the time of the fire. A Thai foreign ministry source stated they correlated closely with local authorities, and people injured in the incident were transferred to different hospitals in Sa Kaeo province of Thailand.
“The authorities have been trying to control the fire, including by sending in firetrucks from the Thai side,” they said.
A volunteer with the Thai rescue group the Ruamkatanyu Foundation said the blaze started on the first floor but spread quickly along the carpets, leaping up through the multi-story building. The Grand Diamond City is one of several casino hotels clustered along the Thai-Cambodian border.
