ISLAMABAD: Two US warplanes have been brought down over Iran and the Gulf, highlighting growing risks in the ongoing conflict, as one pilot remains missing and is reportedly being pursued by Iranian forces.

According to US and Iranian officials, an F-15E fighter jet was shot down over Iran, while an A-10 aircraft was hit and crashed near Kuwait after its pilot ejected. Two crew members have been rescued, but the fate of a third remains uncertain, with search efforts under way.

US helicopters involved in the rescue mission also came under fire but managed to exit Iranian airspace. Iranian authorities said they were searching the crash site.

The incidents have raised questions over US claims of air superiority in the region. President Donald Trump has been closely monitoring developments, while the Pentagon has yet to provide detailed updates.

The possibility of a US pilot evading capture inside Iran has heightened tensions in a war already marked by significant casualties and economic disruption. So far, 13 US service members have been killed and more than 300 injured.

Diplomatic efforts appear to have stalled. Meanwhile, security warnings have been issued for US citizens in Lebanon amid fears of further escalation.

Trump has also intensified rhetoric, threatening to target Iran’s infrastructure, including bridges and power plants. Iran, in response, has carried out strikes across the region, including attacks on energy facilities in Kuwait.

The conflict continues to impact global markets, with oil prices surging amid fears of prolonged instability.
