WASHINGTON: Pop sensation Taylor Swift broke her silence regarding the cancelation of three Vienna concerts over an alleged terror plot, expressing that the incident left her feeling “guilty” and “fearful.”

“The cancellation of our Vienna shows was heartbreaking. The reason behind it filled me with a deep sense of fear and overwhelming guilt, knowing so many fans had planned to attend,” the American singer shared in a post on Instagram.

According to AFP, the Vienna concerts, part of the European leg of Swift’s record-breaking “Eras” tour, were called off after authorities warned of a terror threat linked to Daesh sympathizers. Three suspects have been detained in connection with the alleged plot, and the U.S. reportedly shared intelligence to assist in the investigation, AFP reported.

According to Omar Haijawi-Pirchner, head of Austria’s domestic intelligence agency (DSN), the main suspect, a 19-year-old Austrian allegedly confessed to planning an attack using explosives and knives.

In her social media post, Swift expressed gratitude to the authorities. “I’m incredibly thankful to the authorities because, thanks to them, we were mourning the loss of concerts, not lives. I was also moved by the love and unity shown by fans who stood together,” she wrote.

The European leg of Swift’s sold-out tour kicked off in Paris in May and included stops in Sweden, Portugal, Spain, the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, and Poland. It concluded with five shows at London’s Wembley Stadium.
