LAHORE: Jahangir Tareen, the Patron Chief of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), exercised his right to vote in Lodhran on Thursday, underlining the significance of forming a stable government post the 2024 general elections.
During his media interaction, he reiterated his party’s dedication to establishing a durable government capable of ensuring prolonged economic stability and national resilience.
Tareen expressed contentment with the ongoing electoral process and his party’s performance. “The polling process is proceeding smoothly,” he affirmed, “and I am contesting from both my constituencies. Inshallah (God willing), IPP candidates will emerge victorious.”
When questioned about the potential election outcome, Tareen remained cautious, urging to wait until February 8th passes. “Let February 8th conclude first,” he replied, deferring detailed responses about government formation until then.
The PML-N, PPP, MQM-P, JUI-F, PML-Q, TLP, JI, ANP, IPP and other regional and religious parties are vying for their share of the political pie with the beleaguered PTI fielding its candidates as independents. The Free and Fair Elections Network (FAFEN) reports that as many as 111 political parties have nominated 275 female candidates for the upcoming general elections, representing 4.6 percent of the total of 6,037 candidates.
