ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday said that the recent talks with outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan have borne no concrete results.
Addressing a conference as a keynote speaker in Islamabad, the minister highlighted the security situation after a series of terrorist attacks in different parts of the country.
He said that the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa— where a school van came under a terror attack a few days ago— was under control. He added that government was fully prepared to tackle any untoward situation in the province.
The defense minister said the resurgence of terrorist attacks is an expected spillover from Afghanistan as Pakistan is dependent on peace in the neighboring country.
He further said that the government wanted to resolve the matter peacefully but it is also ready to purge the menace of terrorism by any means.
